Oxygen Paradox and Oxidative Stress
October 30th, 2008Several years ago Kelvin Davies of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Albany Medical College, wrote an article entitled Oxidative stress: the paradox of aerobic life. This is an excellent discussion of oxidative stress and response. According to Davies, “The paradox of aerobic life, or the ‘Oxygen Paradox’, is that higher eukaryotic aerobic organisms cannot exist without oxygen, yet oxygen is inherently dangerous to their existence.” (more…)
