Is Activated Air the same as Ozone?
November 25th, 2008We have had this question raised in the past few months: Is Activated Air (Eng3 Technology) the same as ozone and ozone therapies?
Since we are not experts on ozone and ozone therapies we cannot make much comment on whether they are beneficial or not. But it is clear that there is great debate across medical communities, alternative medicine communities, and in general on the internet, on the use, benefits, and detriments of ozone on humans.
It is also no wonder there is confusion between Activated Air and ozone, since ozone is often referred to as Activated Oxygen.
To answer the question – no, Activated Air is not ozone. ActiveAir devices do not generate, produce, or emit ozone.
Ozone is a gas which can remove and kill bacteria, fungus, mold, and virus’. In cases where it is used on people, it is used through the skin or with blood. It is not typically used through an inhalation device. Because of its oxidative properties, ozone may have the effect of killing cells and virus’ within the body. Proponents of ozone therapies claim ozone will kill harmful virus’, bacteria, and cells within the body, and that blood is resistant to the harmful oxidative powers of ozone. Opponents of ozone therapy say ozone is toxic, can cause oxidative stress, and should not be used by humans. Although ozone devices have been approved by the FDA for food sanitation, there are no ozone inhalation devices approved by the FDA that we know of.
Eng3 technology and Activated Air work to improve oxidative response – improving the body’s capacity to repair itself. Because breathing Activated Air aims at strengthening the body’s own natural system, there are no negative side effects. ActiveAir devices have been approved by the FDA as a class I medical device used for inhalation.
