Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Part II
December 4th, 2008Chiropractors are the biggest segment of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). There are currently about 55,000 chiropractors in the US, growing at about 14% per year, making chiropractics the second fastest growing area of CAM. An aging population generates demand for their services. More than ten years ago Gerald Celente, president of the Trends Research Institute, presented the results of a study of the chiropractic market. The Institute “forecasts a major health/fitness/nutrition revolution.” This revolution is being fueled by the aging baby boomers who dread the possibility of “languishing years away as inmates in nursing homes.” This segment of the population will spend increasing amounts of money trying to hold on to their youthful vigor while maintaining and improving their health (Dynamic Chiropractic December 2, 1996).
Chiropractors responded to this opportunity and at least half of them now offer a range of health treatments extending far beyond the musculoskeletal specialty. They appreciate technology, follow the lead of integrative medicine, and tend to embrace devices that make them more effective healers. For these reasons a rapidly growing number of chiropractors are implementing Eng3′s Activated Air devices in their clinics. Since Activated Air can help make other treatments more effective, it is a natural fit.
